» CHARACTER INFORMATION

Character NAME:Rosette Christopher

Canon & MEDIUM: Chrono Crusade - Manga

Canon PULL-POINT: Chapter 18

Character AGE: 16

Character ABILITIES: Rosette is an excellent if not superb marksman with an extremely wide range of weapons. As long as the weapon is well maintained and decently balanced she can probably make the shot. (If it's not, it's useless in her hands.)

She also has MONSTROUS physical strength that can ONLY be used in comedic moments. Any other time, she has the physical strength of an athletic 16 year old girl.

Character HISTORY: On the surface, the world of Chrono Crusade is exactly the same as ours, if you follow the textbooks up to the Roaring Twenties of United States history. Unknown to the general public, a tight, hive minded society of demons struggled to keep control amongst their own ranks and worked towards the colonization of the world for their own benefit. In the meantime, miracle workers, healers and prophets were born with the power of god flowing through them.

And a small order of the Church was established, specifically designed to carry out the words of the prophet Mary Magdalene and seek salvation through her visions of the future. Well armed, well funded and quite devoted, the priests and nuns of the Order hunt down rogue demons, exorcise ghosts and vengeful spirits and work towards protecting the world from the overwhelming forces that it does not even know exists.

One of those nuns is a young girl named Rosette Christopher. Her parents had died while she was very young, leaving just herself and her little brother to grow up on an orphanage. Gifted with a mysterious and miraculous ability to heal others, her brother Joshua was weak and often sickly himself. Restless, frustrated and impatient with himself and his infirm constitution, he dreamed of nothing more than being an explorer, finding all that is exotic and supernatural in the world. On the other hand, Rosette was practical and strong, she took care of the small group, doing laundry and attempting (attempting) to cook... she threw all of her plans into the study of medicine to help her brother.

Their lives changed with the meeting of two separate demons. One, they found and awakened from a long sleep, guarding the sealed grave of a woman. Weak and bemused, the demon Chrono was content to live what was left of his life with these precocious little children who not only did not fear him, but tried to win him over with candy and endless questions.

The other, Aion, spirited Joshua away with promises of power, of standing on his own. Giving the young apostle the horns of a demon, he loses control of his powers and himself, freezing the orphanage in time. As Aion admired the results, Joshua just barely recovers enough of himself to let Rosette and Chrono escape. It's the last Rosette sees of him.

The twelve year old girl, determined to find her brother, gives her soul to Chrono. Contained in a pocket watch around her neck, it sustains his life and give him power, so she can find her brother, destroy the demon that took him, and then they can go exploring the world.

The story opens four years later, during the heady time of the Prohibition, Big Business and the Roaring Twenties. These partners are now a part of an organization of demon hunters, and Chrono's own life warily tolerated in exchange for his undeniable power and his knowledge of the demon's world and society. Rushing heedlessly forward, ignoring the politics around them, and often in spite of them, they search frantically for any signs of Joshua and Aion before Rosette's soul runs out.

Character PERSONALITY: Rosette is the type of person who lives life to every last drop she can squeeze out of it. She's often over the top, impulsive and always in a rush, she is a one woman force of nature. She's never content to be passive, and in fact, the one time she is forced to do NOTHING BUT WAIT is the one and only time we see her unwavering determination and gung-ho aura collapse into doubt and fragile insecurity.

She is an immediate and hands on person, who is incapable of seeing those in need and NOT helping. Anything that keeps her moving forward, even if it's aimlessly, will be voraciously taken up and taken on in her usual bullish manner. Deeply empathetic, she takes her deepest joys in the successes and happiness of others. Not one to pry, she's often content to simply trust in those who have come to be the mainstays in her life, and that if she needs to know something, she will be told it when they are ready to talk about it.

However, her temper and pride are something like flash fires, and when offended, she has no problems with headlocks, face pulling, stomping, punching and other means of making her displeasure known across YOUR FACE.

Regardless of this almost playfully violent streak, she has absolutely no ability to shoot another human being, even though nearly every mission she is deployed on ever results in astronomically huge property damage. She is careless about material things and matters outside of her immediate scope of life, and in that way, she can be enormously difficult on the people around her and supporting her.

But on the other hand, she enjoys the simpler things in life. She loves wearing beautiful dresses, because she doesn't usually get to feel glamorous. She dreams of the easy life with riches and butlers and people to do things for her. (Though, to be sure, going from an orphan to the church, she has little to no concept of money, or how that particular aspect of life works beyond something Sister Kate yells about a lot.)

She is deeply terrified of being alone, of failing and losing everything, and at the point of canon that she'll be taken from, she will not have even acknowledged these problems exist on the same planet as her, much less begun to even tackle them.

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION

Chosen WEAPON: If given access to an armory with fantastic and incredible weaponry, besides all of the issues involved with making her LEAVE said armory.... she would eventually settle on a weapon designed to incapacitate a human being without killing them. A hand gun type phaser or blaster rifle sort of weapon would be ideal.

In true shounen style, originally it would be powerful but hard to control, often causing more structural damage than it would to any enemy she was facing. But with time, sheer stubborn persistence and throwing it at the wall in disgust more than a few times, she would gain mastery of aim and increasing output of the blast. Possibly, as it evolved with her, it would gain some level of holy power, as all of Rosette's weapons do.

Character INVENTORY: All Rosette will have with her is an evening gown she's wearing, a small gun with holy water infused bullets tucked into her stocking at upper thigh level (3 in the chambers), a crucifix, and a pocketwatch on a neckchain that holds what remains of her soul.

First PERSON: [The video feed opens open of a young woman, glaring warily at the screen of her tablet. Having had little to no patience with tutorials, she exited out and opted for the Poke At It Until Something Happened/DO IT OR I DROP YOU mode of learning. The awe and glee of the first hour or so eventually ebbed as she realized one important detail. This one detail big enough that it warranted sharing with the world as a whole.]

So this is it? This is the technology of the super far distant future?

No dials? No buttons? No lightning rods, storms and maniacal laughter?

I mean, it's impressive and all, but I feel kind of let down on the drama department. Seriously, can someone get me a model where I can make someone else throw a really big switch on a wall to operate?

Come on! Just once! It'll be like the movies!

Third PERSON: Rosette walked unsteadily behind the woman that greeted her in the strange room. Her mouth felt like she'd been chewing on moldy cotton and her head pounded, the strange lights seemed to make it worse, and the hurried explanations filtered through in incredible, unbelievable bursts.

Blearily and unfocused, Rosette tried to figure out if she could still be drunk and hung over at the same time. Maybe that extortionist has slipped in that weird green french wine. But she would remember that? Wouldn't she? This kind of hallucination certainly couldn't last THAT long could it? The wine had tasted so good though... was this why it was a sin?

One moment you were enjoying a lovely night out, and the next, someone was telling you that you were in the future in a huge room of future weapons and fu... …

Rosette blinked once and then twice, pushing aside the fog in her mind and beating down the drumbeat behind her temples to get a good, proper look at the armory that she'd be lead into. There were details being talked about, evolving, times of need, whatever, she pinched her own arm soundly twice... just in case sleeping through the first one was a fluke.

"So.... What you're saying is... you're supplying us to fight?"

She didn't wait for an answer, but her face broke out into a wide beaming smile, lighting up with a certain practical joy. This room? This room HAD BETTER NOT BE A DREAM.

"I want one of everything." A beat. "And someone to carry it."

» ADDITIONAL NOTES

There is only one very specific things to know about Rosette and one is that she is deeply bound to Chrono. His life depends on hers, quite literally, and all of her hope of the future depends on his. Literally every day they exist, she loses a bit more of her soul, though it shouldn't be a problem for quite some time. Her greatest power is very simply, giving Chrono power at the expense of her own time. It is self limiting, naturally, given that it is painful and will ultimately be fatal if overused. It also means they are very difficult to separate. However, Rosette is very outgoing, and tends to get her nose into everything, so I don't expect it to be too much of a problem.
